About The AIIMSONIANS

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi was established in 1956 under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as an autonomous institution of national importance. Its creation was facilitated by an Act of Parliament with the objectives of developing patterns of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in all its branches to demonstrate a high standard of medical education in India, bringing together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all important branches of health activity; and attaining self-sufficiency in postgraduate medical education.
